As we move into the season of Lent, consider participating in Unity's Lenten workshops.

Lenten Workshops: Prayer & Scripture
As we move into the season of Lent, we often think about what we are going to “give up” for Lent. Conversely, it is also appropriate for us to think about what commitment we will make to our spiritual life during Lent. Two important options for Lent are concentrating on our prayer life and recommitting ourselves to the study of scripture. To assist us with these commitments, Janet Alford will lead two workshops for us.
Prayer: How do you “talk” to God?
Praying seems to be one of the easiest – don’t you just “talk” to God? – and sometimes one of the most challenging things about living the Christian Life. There are all kinds of prayers, and all kinds of ways to pray. Come join us on the first Sunday of Lent (Sunday, February 21) to explore the how and why of prayer. We will learn about the foundations of prayer from Scripture and practice which has evolved from the early church through today. No experience required!
Luke 11:1: Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.
This workshop was held on Sunday, February 21 from 3:00 – 4:30 in Room 312. We hope you enjoyed it!
Scripture: The Living Word of God
Scripture is God’s gift to us, illumined by the Holy Spirit as the Living Word to guide, instruct and lead us in deeper relationship with God and Jesus Christ. But how do we read Scripture, knowing that it is a collection of ancient books, handed down to us from many and varied contexts and different times? Where do we start? How do we read? Come join us on Sunday, March 28 to explore how we might read and study Scripture with “the eyes of the heart opened,” with expectation of hearing God’s Word for us today.
2 Timothy 3: 16-17: All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.
This workshop will be held on Sunday, March 28 from 3:00 – 4:30 in Room 312. Please plan to join us!
