Romans 13:8-10 “…You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Unity is a host church for the Interfaith Hospitality Network of York County (IHNYC). The network provides food, shelter, and support to homeless families. In all, thirteen host churches participate in the network. The director interviews and selects homeless families for participation in this program. The network may serve a maximum of 16 people at one time. The 16 could be three to four families depending on the number of children in each family.
As part of the network, host churches provide meals and overnight accommodations for the families for one week at a time, rotating every thirteen weeks. When hosting the families, church members provide the evening and morning meals; convert classrooms to sleeping quarters; and provide additional groceries for the IHN Day Center for the week.
This is a service opportunity for church families. It is a life changing experience for the hosts as well as the guests.
