PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN (PW)

*      What is Presbyterian Women (PW)?
PW is the national women’s organization of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). PW at Unity exists to nurture faith; build community; support the church’s mission; affirm the call of women to leadership; raise issues and concerns; and channel resources, information and opportunities supportive of Unity.

*      Who can join PW?
Every woman in the congregation is welcome and encouraged to join PW in its work, worship and fellowship.

*      What does PW do?
PW meets in small groups called Circles. Our five Circles maintain ongoing activities such as Bible study and fellowship, celebration giving, mission interpretation, and special ministries to the congregation and community. PW also supports the missions of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) worldwide through education, global awareness and financial and material gifts.

*      How often do Circles meet?
Five Circles meet on either the first Monday or Tuesday of each month, September through May. See the PW brochures for more information about each Circle.

*      Why should I join PW?
Our five Circles offer: opportunity to serve God; meaningful fellowship; Bible study; support in time of need and celebration; opportunities to serve the congregation, church and community; and a great opportunity to meet other women in the church.

*      Is there a cost to join?
Each year, the PW Coordinating Team determines the budget for PW. Each Circle is given a budgeted offering amount that is collected from its members at each meeting. Each Circle member decides how much to give – there is no set amount and the amount is confidential.   PW considers the amount you give as a personal decision as to what you feel led to give; a gift from the heart.  We strive to meet our budget but our work continues regardless of the collected monies. We also have two special offering events. A Birthday Offering Luncheon is held in May that celebrates the birthday of PW and goes to causes chosen each year by the General Assembly. A Thank Offering Dinner is held in August and this offering is used by World Wide Ministries to build hospitals and clinics, award scholarships, train healthcare workers and battle hunger.
