RAIN – the Regional AIDS Interfaith Network – works to provide care and compassion for individuals and families in North and South Carolina who face the daily challenges of living with HIV/AIDS.  In addition, they provide prevention education and social awareness to faith and community groups, young people, and clergy.  This mission is greatly assisted through CareTeams of volunteers from a diverse collection of congregations to provide practical, emotional, and spiritual support and assistance to those impacted by this disease.
AIDS Walk
The AIDS Walk is RAIN's biggest event of the year – last year, walkers and their sponsors raised over $100,000 to further this ministry.  Many of us have known someone affected by this disease, and understand the enormity of physical and emotional struggles that it involves.  We walk in support of those we know living with HIV/AIDS, and in memory of those who have gone on ahead of us.  Unity’s RAIN teams currently provide support to several individuals and their families in Fort Mill who face the daunting task of living (and hoping to continue to live) with AIDS.  We welcome your support and sponsorship in whatever way you would like to participate – if you would like to know more about RAIN, please contact the church office.
January is RAIN Closet Month
Unity maintains a RAIN Closet in order to provide donated supplies to individuals in the Fort Mill area who are living with HIV/AIDS. In many cases, these individuals are unable to work as a result of this disease, and consequently find themselves forced to live on extremely limited incomes. In many cases, this illness extends its emotional as well as financial impact to other members of their family, spouse, children, parents, siblings and at times the strain of dealing with this on a daily basis can be overwhelming. Below are some suggestions of items that can be donated for our carepartners:
