  Children in Worship

What is Children in Worship?

CIW is a Montessori based worship program for young children. Throughout the year the children will learn to worship in a way that corresponds to corporate worship, yet addresses the special needs of young children. Children will learn to experience and praise God through Bible storytelling, learning the order and language of worship and responding to their worship experience through art, music and other means of self-expression.

After the Children’s Sermon during both worship services, children who are preK-4 (by September 1, 2010), in Kindergarten and 1st grade  are invited to participate in this very special worship experience. Children are taught Bible stories, using interactive props to act out Bible stories related to the Bible lessons. This worship experience, which allows young children to learn about the importance of worship and prepares them to worship appropriately in church.

Who can participate in CIW?

CIW is for children who are age 4 by September 1st, in Kindergarten or First Grade. Parents are encouraged to start their child in CIW when the program begins, as the worship skills and lessons learned build on one another. Please be advised that we will not enroll children who turn 4 after September 1st during the school year. All children will have the opportunity to participate for 3 years, but need to begin when they enter the 4 year old Sunday school program. Visitors are always welcome.

How? When? Where?

Please bring your child with you to worship in the sanctuary and complete a white sticker (in the back of the pews) with your child’s information and “CIW 4” or “CIW K/1st” on the sticker. After children’s time, the ushers will take the children to their worship rooms located on the bottom floor of the ministries building.

How can I help?

Participating in parent orientation is the best thing you can do! We will have parent sign-ups for supplies and other volunteer opportunities.   We will also obtain important information about your child during this time.

If you have any further questions about CIW, please contact Lynn Ringley or Linda Bunge at  childrensministry@unityfortmill.org or 547-5543.

Thank you so much for sharing your children with us!  We look forward to a wonderful year of learning and growing together in Children in Worship!
